WHAT IS ROTOMOLDING?
Rotational molding is a method of producing plastic parts that offer many advantages over other plastic molding processes such as blow molding, vacuum forming or injection molding. Although rotational molding is not as fast as blow molding for producing large quantities of parts, it has fewer limitations in terms of the design and geometry of the parts produced. In fact, rotational molding is the only process that allows the production of larger parts with more complex shapes and thicker walls, which is not possible with any other plastic molding process. In addition, rotational molds (toolings) are much less expensive than those used for blow molding or injection molding (the molds cost about 10 times less, which considerably reduces production costs). In short, rotational molding is an efficient and economical production solution for large and complex shaped plastic parts.

THE PROCESS
Plastic powder is loaded into a mold which is introduced into a high temperature oven and turned on two axes. The powder melts, forming a layer of plastic in the inner surface of the mold. Then the mold is cooled to allow the plastic to solidify. Finally, the mold is opened to release the perfectly formed part that has just been produced.
When manufacturing the part, a multitude of elements can be included such as: metal inserts, threads, openings, decals, etc.
In addition, almost any surface finish can be created using a variety of textures and / or paint. The process also allows complex shapes to be produced in a variety of materials, while controlling the thickness of the walls.
